The Schweppes East African Concours d' Elegance


CLASS WINNER. Judges at the Schweppes East Africa Concours assess the 1934 New Imperial racing bike of Johannesburg based Peter Posniak who won the class for competition motorcycles and finished second overall.

ELEGANCE AWARD. The Sherwin-Williams award for the most elegant car at the Schweppes Concours was won by Simon Fisher's 1934 Alvis Firefly.

TOP THREE CARS. Mohamed Parvez (centre) of Phoenix Aviation Limited collected the prize for winning the Schweppes Concours with a Volkswagen Beetle. Second place went to the Nissan 160J of Sati Gata-Aura (left) and Gayling May (right) took third place with his Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint.

TOP THREE. Satpal Singh Jabbal (centre) won the top motorcycle award in the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance with his 1925 DKW. Second place was taken by Johannesburg based Peter Posniak (left) with a 1934 New Imperial and third place went to Rick Agagliate who showed a 1937 Moto Guzzi GTC.

RALLY CLASS WINNER. Marzio Kravos won the rally car class of the Schweppes Concours with his 1972 Mercedes Benz 450 SLC. In November he will be contesting the East African Safari Classic with his massive Mercedes.

CLASS WINNER. The 1928 Ford Tudor of John Wroe won the pre 1940 class of the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance and was placed fourth overall.

CLASSIEST MOTOR EVENT CLOSELY CONTESTED

The 2007 Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance which is the classiest event on the annual motor sport calendar was closely contested with overseas competitors taking a significant share of the prizes. Thanks to sponsorship by Kenya Airways Cargo and Jubilee Insurance, the Vintage Motorcycle Club of South Africa fielded four magnificent motorcycles and came within an ace of taking the first prize from the Nairobi Racecourse to Johannesburg. .........more
1916 TRIUMPH. Michael Milner-Smyth, the Chairman of the Vintage Motorcycle Club of South Africa, will be showing his 1916 Triumph Junior in the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance. This historic motorcycle will be flown to Nairobi by Kenya Airways Cargo and will be the oldest ever motorcycle to appear at the Nairobi Racecourse..
OLDEST EVER MOTORCYCLE ENTRY FOR SCHWEPPES CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

DODGE KINGSWAY FOR THE SCHWEPPES EAST AFRICAN CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE
Kamal Radia has entered a 1956 Dodge Kingsway in the over 3000cc touring car class of the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance which will be held at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 30th. This giant fire engine red American saloon car has been absent from the annual vehicle beauty contest for several years.......more
