RUSH FOR AUTO EXPO PLOTS

Amazon Motors was allocated the first plot at Auto Expo, the motor trade section of the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance which will be held at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 30th. The rush is on for plots for Auto Expo, the informal country style motor trade exhibition which will be held at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 30th in conjunction with the Schweppes East Africa Concours d'Elegance. Half of the 28 available spaces were snapped up at the motor trade launch of Auto Expo and the remainder are expected to be taken before the official closing date for entries early in September.

Amazon Motors was allocated the first plot which will be used to display the Volvo range of cars including the prestige XC 90 model. Subaru Kenya will be promoting a mix of saloon cars and the 4 X 4 Forester and Outback SUVs. The Cooper Motor Corporation has reserved four large plots for Ford, Mazda, Land Rover and Volkswagen.

An extensive range of exhaust systems will be shown by Pipe Manufacturers Limited and Prochem will be promoting Turtle Wax car polishes. The Sherwin-Williams Automotive paints exhibit will highlight the syncron range for commercial vehicles. The centrepiece of the stand will be a paint mixing bank showing the capability of producing 30,000 different shades of colours. This will be flanked by a repainted 1979 VW Combi to illustrate the quality of Sherwin-Williams paints.

Auto Expo is a cost effective way of reaching the motorists who flock to the Concours. The fee for a standard plot (six metres by nine metres) is 20,000 shillings and the charge for a large plot (nine metres by twelve metres) is 27,500 shillings.

The displays will be placed along the edge of the Racecourse in close proximity to the Concours judging line. Spectators divide their time between admiring the classic and vintage cars and motorcycles competing in the vehicle beauty show with viewing the latest saloon cars, pick-ups, 4x4s and motorcycles available in Kenya. The accessories, spares and tyre displays in Auto Expo also attract the crowd.
